Designing a vertical curriculum for coding and robotics: the tree model

Abstract:

The article describes the project that Indire is conducting in collaboration with the Ufficio Scolastico Regionale Umbria to develop vertical coding and robotics curricula in first-cycle schools. Similar to previous experiments conducted by Indire in this field, we will also experiment with strategies to highlight and combat gender stereotypes, as we believe that hands-on activities can better expose these gaps. We selected 13 schools based on their prior experience in coding and robotics and initiated with them a process of designing a new curriculum. Here, the specific tree tool designed to accompany teachers in sharing their practices with the school community and for collaboration in the design process will be presented Additionally, we created questionnaires to detect gender stereotypes among teachers as a starting point for systematic analysis.
