Inclusion in italian state schools abroad: the example of the Institute of Addis ABEBA


Italian state schools abroad are facing a new challenge: to take the concept of inclusion of students with special education needs out of the national territory to better promote the spread of Italian culture and a solid culture of inclusion and acceptance. This study, through the special pedagogical perspective, focuses on the Italian school in Addis Abeba. The study highlight its role in the process of inclusion of all students, involving the territory and positioning itself as a center of inclusive culture in a difficult territory. The Ministry of education in Ethiopia are very attentive to the promotion of the rights of all it’s citizens, especially towards the education of all. The paper seeks to highlight, through literature research and empirical research, how the Italian school, with its inclusive values, can become the center of an integrated educational system capable of forming conscious and active citizens in fostering inclusion processes.
