Instagram e TikTok for the science communication. A collaboration with a university department and a content creator

Abstract:

The contribution analyzes a collaboration experience between a content creator for social networks and a scientific department of the University of XXX for the narration of the activities of the research laboratories. We produced short vertical videos that were published on the Instagram and TikTok channels and then analyzed the quantitative data relating to the feedback obtained and the qualitative data of the comments. We asked ourselves about the use of social networks for science communication, in particular about the real consequences in terms of interest and engagement. In this case the data was quite comforting, while it was not possible for us to define patterns for effective communication. Instead, we obtained interesting results by highlighting the role of the media environment and the relationship between the scientific communicator and his community.
