The construction of a leadership evaluation rubric for the Early Childhood Education Services Coordinator


Abstract:

The leadership of the Coordinator of early childhood educational centers is a key factor in ensuring the quality of the services offered. However, evaluating leadership is not always straightforward; for this reason, starting from the theoretical discussion on the function that leadership plays within such educational settings, the paper presents the work of constructing a rubric for evaluating the leadership of the Coordinator of Early Childhood Educational Services carried out by 42 students who attended, in the academic year 2023-24, the first-year Docimology course of the Master of Science in Pedagogical Sciences degree program. The rubric construction process, which was based on 6 key competencies identified from the literature, was completed through direct involvement and feedback provided by experts in the field. Through the identification of observable criteria and indicators, the tool can help to make an assessment of the leadership skills of the Coordinator of Early Childhood Educational Centers and guide their professional development in order to improve the quality of services provided.
