The Influence of media, emotions in the post-truth era: a Study on Civic Attitudes


Abstract:

Are information able, to influence and condition the attitude of partecipation and civintenship? Does a relationship between fear and responsible and critical civic behaviours exist? 'Globalization facilitates the formation of real media empires, controlled by the aforementioned powerful entities or other plutocratic forces, capable of monopolizing information and imposing their own interpretations, thus manipulating public opinion' (Baldacci 2023, p.96). The outbreak of internet and social networks has been influencing people and communities, introducing us to a new era: the era of post-truth. To answer the questions, an experiment involving a sample of students, identified through a specific sampling plan, has been conducted. The outcomes will be discussed in this paper.
