The new PEI for inclusion between challanges and opportunities

Abstract

The divergent conceptions of disability (medical model/social model) have made it difficult to grasp the innovative scope of the new models for inclusiveness adopted by the school system. The new PEI models represent a considerable opportunity for change in view of overcoming the reductive logic of a merely bureaucratic compilation. In fact, they represented a significant opportunity for the professional training of teachers, both curricular and specialised, who were called upon to measure themselves against the principles of universal planning for learning. The changes during the year, aggravated by the pandemic emergency, have created a lot of confusion and difficulties in the implementation of inclusive school practices oriented to the construction of meaningful Life Projects. In this regard, Francesco’s school narrative is presented through his PEI-Life Project.
