The tutor as a mediator in mixed study groups in academic settings to promote inclusive learning environments

Abstract:

The constant increase in students with disabilities and Specific Learning Disorders within Italian universities has contributed to the implementation of dedicated Tutoring Services and the establishment of specific actions, including peer tutoring, which plays a pivotal role in mediating the construction of welcoming and collaborative environments aimed at promoting the inclusion and academic success of all students. The paper presents the results of a case study conducted at the Department of Education Sciences of Roma Tre University, within a mixed group of students (with and without Specific Learning Disorders) preparing for an exam, assisted by a peer tutor.
