Thoughts on the primary school textbooks for regional culture for Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade (1924-1929)


Abstract

This article focuses on the main stages of the short-lived experience of the regional Almanacs, or regional culture textbooks containing a variety of notions, which became part of the mandatory reading materials in primary schools during the aftermath of the Gentile Reform of 1923, with the aim of fostering civic engagement and a national identity among the younger generations.
